Sun Azimuths tables

This app presents a table of solar azimuths that shows the Sun’s path through the day — rising from sunrise, climbing to its highest point at solar noon, and then descending toward sunset.

An azimuth is simply a bearing measured clockwise from True North. It is widely used in navigation to describe the direction of an object such as the Sun or Moon.

At solar noon the Sun’s azimuth will be due South (180° T) in the Northern Hemisphere and due North (000° T) in the Southern Hemisphere.

All tables are calculated internally and require no GPS or internet connection, making them suitable for practical field use.

This app is inspired by Harold Gatty’s book Finding Your Way Without Map or Compass, which provides a detailed explanation of natural navigation techniques, and to which the author is indebted.
